How to Write a Prompt for a Neural Network

Short answer: Forget about "frameworks," "methodologies," and "ideal prompt formulas." They're gimmicks. Start with what you know: just write the question as you think. The neural network is not a person and not part of culture; it's a library. A modern one. Direct your stream of thoughts into the machine — you get a result.

Why the "Ideal Prompt" is a Myth

The internet is flooded with guides on "10 formulas for the perfect prompt" and "RTF-CTF-ACTOR methodology." The authors of these guides have never generated 200 texts in a day. They wrote one guide — and that's it.

The truth is that neural networks in 2026 understand natural language. They don't need special incantations. You can write "make it good" — and the model will understand. You can write a stream of consciousness for half a page — and the model will figure it out. The quality of the answer depends not on a magic formula, but on two things: how clearly you described the task and how good the model itself is.

Where to Actually Start

Step 1: Write as you think. Don't edit. Don't try to do it "correctly." Just spill the task into the chat window.

Step 2: Look at the answer. It will likely be "okay" but not "wow."

Step 3: Refine it. "Make it shorter," "add numbers," "write in a different tone," "you misunderstood, I meant..." — this works better than crafting a new perfect prompt from scratch. The neural network learns from dialogue — use that.

Step 4: After 3-4 iterations, you'll have an excellent result. Save this dialogue as a template for similar tasks.

Real Example

Bad prompt:
"Write an article about marketing"

Good prompt:
"I am a marketer, I need a blog article on the topic 'how neural networks are changing job searching in 2026'. Audience: job seekers aged 25-40. Format: 3 sections with subheadings, each with 2-3 paragraphs. Tone: direct, no fluff. Add 2-3 specific examples with numbers"

The difference: in the first case, the neural network is guessing. In the second, it has context, audience, format, tone. The result differs by 5-10 times.
